Solicitors in the stocks at Northwich Festival
Chambers Fletcher threw themselves into this year’s Northwich Festival weekend. As one of the longest established firms of solicitors in the town, we decided to get involved by entertaining the crowds and raising funds for a local charity in an unusual way.
Each August Bank holiday weekend the annual Northwich Festival, organised jointly by Cheshire West & Chester Council and Northwich Rugby Club, takes place. Held over the August bank holiday weekend, the Festival is a landmark event in the local calendar, with sports, comedy and entertainment for all the family.
At the Festival’s Family Fun Day on Saturday 30th August, we came up with a unique way of raising funds for local charity Sanctuary for Veterans. Equipped with a set of old fashioned stocks, the brave (or mad!) team of partners encouraged festival-goers to ‘splat the solicitor’ with wet sponges in return for a £1 donation to the charity.
In another contrast to the stereotypical image of solicitors, on Sunday 31st August we also sponsored the Festival’s celebrated MossFest - a music festival with 12 hours of nonstop live music, with bands drawn from the local area.
Senior partner Martin Weston said, “The Festival is an important event for our local community and we were very pleased to be involved. Sponsoring MossFest and raising funds for charity is a great way for us to support the local area.”
